I had been using foil on the indirect side, but always wondered how the drip n griddle would work. I finally ordered one and I am very pleased with it. The heat from the charcoal is much hotter than when I used foil. This is particularly important in the winter months. I was also very surprised at how easy the grease cleans up after use - several days later! The Drip N Griddle Deluxe included the roasting grate which is of very high quality and worked really well as the platform to brine my steaks. Very high quality add-on just like the slow n sear. Highly recommended.
The best drip pan out there
Previously I was using throw away aluminum pans from the grocery store. I bought enough of them that I could have bought several of these instead. This pan does it all - catches grease from chicken thighs, allows you to cook directly in it, even has an included removable rack to keep your food out of the grease. I have also taken the rack out and cooked pork belly burnt ends on it to make transporting them easy. The pan will warp if you use it over really high direct heat (like in a gas grill), so be careful about that - it is not made to be used in this fashion. I have used it to cook up peppers and onions in it while a steak cooked on the Slow N Sear. All around great product and probably my favorite kettle accessory, boy I tell you what.
