The SnS Deluxe Kamado definitely holds the heat at low and slow. I've heard no complaints from the peanut gallery, just silence and a nom nom noms.
I've waited a while to write a review on my SNS Kamado so that I could fairly evaluate the grill under many types of cooks. I love the versatility from Kamado mode to sns mode. I am new to Komado type grills so I wasn't experienced on controlling temperature on these types of grills. I found temperature control difficult at first, but with experience I could control the temperature easily between 225 - 250, while maintaining a steady temperature. One thing, don't leave the cover opened too long so the oxygen has a chance to get the coals going. The settings in the manual work good as a starting point. Of course, an advantage of this type of grill is obtaining a high temperatures for cooking things like pizza. The flavor with quality coals is amazing. The accessories are in general good.. The large kick *** basket doesn't fit very stably in the ceramic, but I use it all the time in kamado mode as it makes controlling the coals so much easier. The cover looks like quality and protects the grill well, but the handle on the top disintegrated after a while, although the cover continues to protect the grill well. That is really the only minor complaint I have. Finally, the support I received from SNS Grills was exceptional. From this experience and others, I will continue to support SNS Grills for many of my bbq needs.
Hey there! We really appreciate you taking the time to get to know your kamado and experiment with it before leaving a detailed review. That means a lot to us! As for the cover, we're sorry to hear that the handle is broken. We looked back in your previous orders and can't find when you purchased it. It does have a 1 year warranty, so if you need a replacement, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks again! Grill on.
First the bad. My unit came with contersunck screws and lock washers for the cradle. Not sure of that dynamic. There are no countersunk holes in the cradle and lock washers don't work well with countersunk screws. Ok, now the good stuff. This thing is built like a tank. Thick ceramic, great stainless bands and hinges. Everything was tight and assembly was a breeze. I've done multiple cooks so far using the SNS method. The temperature control is fantastic. They say with Kamados changing temps can take a long time. When using the SNS you can make temperature changes in half the time of traditional Kamado grilling. Once you are dialed in this thing hums right along. 8 hours on one basket of briquettes and still had more left. Super happy with my purchase.
The grill worked great on my first smoke. However the plastic angle for the vent broke on my second use and the vent locked up and wouldn’t move. I had to unscrew it completely to free it up. After that it moved a little easier but I am still disappointed that the handle on broke so quickly.
Oh no! We are so sorry that happened! We've found that it's good to open and close the vent a couple times after each use to loosen up any of the residue that it may have accumulated during the cook. Feel free to email us directly at email@example.com, and we'll be happy to send you a top vent replacement. Thank you for your purchase and for taking the time to leave a review!
The order/delivery process started very smoothly with FedEx delivering and bringing the grill to the porch. Assembly was easy...about 20/30 mins to do everything. You'll need to get a buddy to help you lift it onto the cradle. Thank him with some Bud Light and a rack of ribs from your first cook. This kamado is substantial; its bigger than I thought it'd be but in a good way. You can easily get 3 racks of ribs on here and could squeeze a 4th on the elevated grate (2 on top, 2 on bottom). The kamado is crazy efficient. The photo below shows the amount of charcoal left at the end of a 5 hour cook. The temps were easy to dial in, and the temperature stayed in the range of 225-235 throughout the entire 5 hour cook. You do need to leave a good bit more time for the cooker to come up to temp as opposed to the Webber though, but when it gets to temp it stays there. You can see the bark and smoke ring this grill produced in the photos below. I couldn't be happier that I chose this Kamado.
